![]() You can see for yourself that the solder joints are well done and that the wires aren't pinched. This also helps to ensure that the quality is high. With the transparent plastic used for the case of the controller, the circuit boards and hardware components are on display for anyone to see. I first tried the retropiesetup.sh script, which has built in features for setting up a PS3 (and clones), or an xbox controller. When I got home and went to set it up, I was surprised that it wasnt working right away. Turn on your Bluetooth on your PC or Laptop or plug in a Bluetooth adapter. I recently bought a wireless controller called an 'Afterglow PS3 controller'. Well, the Select and Start buttons may be a bit pinkish on the red version, but the circuit boards are a nice red color.Īnyone interested in electronics and videogame controller hardware is likely to find the Afterglow AP.2 especially interesting. Plug in your PS3 controller into a USB port using the PS3 cable (All 4 lights on the controller should be flashing) 5. Not only are there bright LEDs of either red, green or blue (depending on model), but the circuit boards and the Select and Start buttons are color-coded to match. The unit shown in the product image is the blue version, which, as you can see, has a "cool" look to it when lit. The unit I received for review was red and, well, looked spicy when lit. Part of what gives the Afterglow AP.2 its style is, obviously, its illumination. It was completely dead, and would not even start to. This is reported to provide up to 15 hours of play, but you probably shouldn't be playing 15 hours at a time, anyway. This video was originally a time lapse video of a problem (Pretty common ive noticed) with my controller. Powering the untethered AP.2 is a 800 mAh (milliamp hour) non-removable internal Lithium polymer battery. If this happens, the USB will allow the controller to work, but as soon as you unplug it, the lights will start flashing again. In addition, however, around the front of the controller (where the cord would be on a wired controller), there is a Mini-USB connector, for using the included charging cable to charge the AP.2 and a sync button which pairs the controller up to the included USB dongle. With the exception of the Left Analog Stick and the D-pad being in swapped positions (as compared to the OEM PS3 controllers), everything else is pretty much what you expect, where you expect to see it, including the Select and Start buttons, the Home button, the Action buttons and the shoulder buttons. The shoulder buttons have a nice, stiff spring return and the (L2) and (R2) shoulder buttons are longer than OEM and curve outward, helping to eliminate the possibility of your fingers slipping off of them. ![]() ![]() The button response is tight, and the analog sticks feel right. ![]() I know the controller does actually have analog triggers because they work in the PS3(as an analog input) ex.The Afterglow AP.2 plays like a champ. The generic driver that windows forcefully installs Doesn't see the triggers as analog inputs and i cannot find a compatible driver that does. And yes i have already tried installing the DS3 motionjoy drivers but it came up with an incompatable driver message. My problem is that DS3 tools wont see the controller and xpadder doesnt see the analog triggers. I have gotten other PS3 controllers to work and emulate XBOX 360 controllers but this one isn't actually recognized as a "PLAYSTATION(R) 3 controller" instead its recognized as "wierless controller for ps3" ![]() I was excited when i plugged in the usb dongle into the PC and the controller actually worked after a generic driver install! but after a quick attempt to emulate a xbox 360 controller i realized that the analog triggers were only recognized as a digital button Controller Wireless, CFORWARD Game Controller Compatible for pla圓 Remote Joy sticks with Dual Vibration and 6Axis, Wireless Controller with Charger and Thumb Gripss. I have a wireless afterglow ps3 controller that i wanted to use as a PC controller. ![]()
